Polyester Resin (freely available)

The styrene-free polyester resin is processed like conventional reaction resins. Curing is achieved by adding a suitable hardener (e.g., MEKP hardener). The exact dosage and processing temperature can be found in the enclosed technical data sheets. For best results, substrates should be clean, dry, and free of grease.
Processing is particularly user-friendly, as the material offers consistent viscosity and an appropriate processing time.

Polyester resin is used in various areas, including the manufacture of tanks, boats, car bodies, and industrial components. It is also used in the construction of pools and ponds.
To ensure optimum curing, the processing temperature should be set to 15-25°C. At temperatures below 15°C, properties may be impaired and curing may be insufficient. In addition, the relative humidity should not exceed 70%.
Please note that cured polyester resins can only be removed by mechanical cleaning, such as sanding. Acetone can be used to remove uncured resin residue from tools. Ensure that the tools are sufficiently dry to prevent contamination in new containers.
To ensure optimum adhesion, it is important that the substrate is dry, clean, and free of grease. We therefore recommend sanding the surface and cleaning it with acetone.
To prevent the mixture from hardening too quickly, it is advisable to pour the mixed resin and hardener into a flat container such as a paint tray. The large surface area and flat storage of the mixture prevent the resin from heating up too quickly.
If you want to apply several layers of fiberglass, you can skip sanding between layers as long as the previous layer has not yet hardened!
