Let your creativity run wild!

The advantages of carbon in the manufacture of fiber composite components.

Carbon fibers offer a variety of technical advantages that make them an extremely versatile material. Their outstanding properties make them a popular material in many areas of application. They are resistant to a wide range of chemicals and completely corrosion-resistant, meaning that they are not affected by most acids and alkalis. The specific tensile strength of carbon fiber-reinforced plastics is another advantage that is particularly often used to reduce weight and mass. Compared to metallic materials, carbon components are significantly lighter. In addition, carbon has excellent spring properties due to its high fatigue strength.

Effortless handling of carbon sets

Thanks to the balanced ratio of all components in our carbon sets, both beginners and professionals can easily refine their components. Our complete carbon sets include everything you need: carbon fabric, a suitable epoxy resin with hardener, and tools.

Our carbon sets are available with carbon fabric and our epoxy resin 4305 & hardener 313 in appropriate quantities and offer excellent quality at fair prices. Our online shops offer different set sizes. You can choose between twill weave and plain weave to find the right carbon fabric set for you.

Twill and plain weave are weaving patterns that influence the way the fibers are interwoven. The choice of weaving pattern influences the suitability for certain shapes, such as complex shapes. Twill patterns have better drape and are more suitable for curves and complex shapes. Plain weave, on the other hand, is suitable for flat surfaces such as hoods. For more complicated parts with many edges and curves, twill is the better choice, while plain weave is preferred for flat parts (circular edges can also be achieved).

The “Epox4305/Hardener313” epoxy resin we offer is a versatile system that can be used for various applications such as coatings, adhesives, and fillers. It is also ideal for impregnating glass, aramid, and carbon fibers.

The differences are the square meter size, the corresponding amount of resin and hardener, and the type of carbon fiber weave. The number of brushes, mixing cups, stirring sticks, and gloves is also tailored to the set.

To achieve optimum adhesion of the coating, plastic parts, GRP, metals, and wooden surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of grease. Before you begin the coating process, you must ensure that the parts are free of dirt, solvents, and grease. Sand the surfaces with grit sizes between 40 and 180 to improve the wettability of the parts and ensure a longer service life for the adhesive bond. After sanding, remove any sanding dust with a vacuum cleaner or compressed air. Clean the surfaces with acetone or isopropanol and allow them to dry thoroughly (4-5 hours) before starting the coating process.

When working with epoxy resins, it is important to maintain a processing temperature between 20-30°C and ensure that it does not fall below 10°C. Please also note that the relative humidity should not exceed 70%. To achieve proper curing, you should thoroughly stir and homogenize all components before use.

It is also extremely important to adhere precisely to the mixing ratio of the resin hardener. To do this, it is advisable to refer to the relevant data sheet. Keep in mind that high temperatures can lead to faster curing, while low temperatures can slow down curing considerably. For precise measurement of the resin hardener, we recommend using a (letter) scale.
