Slip-resistant (slip-set) - The carbon fabric is slip-set on one side, so cut pieces do not lose any fibers! The fabric can be shaped to fit the mold using heat (a pressing tool) before being impregnated with resin. The thermoplastic mesh (a type of spider web) has a defined weight of 6 g/m² and is unwound from a roll and applied to the fabric using heat. The fabric remains very flexible and impregnable even after this process. If parts are subsequently coated with carbon, the side with the mesh should face the component. If you are placing it into a mold, the binder must face you.

Carbon has excellent technical properties, making the application possibilities for components made of fiber-reinforced composites highly customizable. For this reason, it is used in a wide variety of fields. It exhibits very high resistance to chemicals. It is completely corrosion-resistant and is not attacked by most alkalis and acids. The most frequently utilized positive property is the particularly high specific tensile strength, which is advantageous when the weight and mass of carbon fiber-reinforced plastics need to be reduced. Consequently, these components are significantly lighter than metallic materials. Furthermore, carbon possesses outstanding elastic properties due to its high fatigue strength.

  • High strength and high stiffness despite low density
  • Chemically inert
  • Electrically conductive
  • Radiolucency due to CFRP components
  • Thermally stable
  • Non-melting
  • Adjustable thermal expansion
  • Excellent damping properties
  • Precise and direct force transmission
  • High-quality surfaces

Applications:

Applications include aircraft construction (e.g., carbon fiber covers and fairings), motorsports, wind energy, medical technology (e.g., prosthetics or wheelchair components), boat and shipbuilding, and the sporting goods industry. As well as in the manufacture of high-strength components in model making, e.g., carbon fiber frame parts, carbon brake discs

Twill weave:

  • distinctive diagonal lines
  • excellent drape
  • better suited for curves and complex shapes
  • lower shear strength
