The carbon fabric tape has the same excellent technical properties as carbon fabric. It is mainly used to wrap tubes or coat small edges. It is also suitable for reinforcing or repairing carbon- and glass-fiber-reinforced components.
The properties are the same as those of the fabric:
- high strength and high stiffness despite low specific weight
- largely chemically inert
- electrically conductive
- X-ray transparency through CFRP components
- thermally stable
- non-melting
- adjustable thermal expansion
- very good damping properties
- precise and direct force transmission
- High-quality surfaces
Applications:
Applications include aircraft construction (e.g., carbon fiber covers and fairings), motorsports, wind energy, medical technology (e.g., prosthetics or wheelchair components), boat and shipbuilding, and the sporting goods industry. As well as in the manufacture of high-strength components in model making, e.g., carbon fiber frame parts and carbon brake discs.
